Chinese Actress Startled By Male Designer's Unexpected Neck Kiss; Internet Says He Crossed The Line
Despite being visibly startled by the unexpected gesture, Jiang Xin kept her cool and continued smiling for the cameras.
Talk about an unexpected show of affection.
Chinese actress Jiang Xin, 43, best known for playing the formidable Consort Hua in hit 2011 period drama Empresses In The Palace, was caught off guard when a male designer suddenly kissed her on the neck at a fashion event.
The incident took place at a fashion show for Chinese luxury label M ESSENTIAL, where Jiang Xin turned heads in an elegant red oriental pantsuit.
While posing for photos with the brand's creative director, Ma Kai, he suddenly leaned in and kissed her on the neck.
Jiang Xin was visibly startled, letting out a squeal as she instinctively leaned backwards.
However, the actress quickly regained her composure, smiling as she leaned back in to continue posing for photos.
A video of the awkward encounter has since gone viral on Chinese social media, with many netizens criticising Ma Kai for his apparent lack of personal boundaries.
Some pointed out that he had only exchanged friendly hugs with other celebrities at the event, making his unusually intimate gesture towards Jiang Xin all the more puzzling.
Others suggested that the two might be close friends and that Ma Kai had intended to give her a cheek kiss, but accidentally landed on her neck due to their height difference.
Still, many felt that such physical contact was inappropriate without consent, regardless of how well they knew each other.
Meanwhile, netizens praised Jiang Xin for remaining professional despite the awkward encounter.
Now that's keeping your cool.
