Leon Lai, 59, Uses AI To Recreate His 19-Year-Old Self, Netizens Say The Real Deal Was Better-Looking
Even AI can't recreate the Heavenly King's good looks in his prime.
Hong Kong Heavenly King Leon Lai was one of the biggest heartthrobs of the '90s, and it seems even artificial intelligence can't quite replicate his good looks.
The 59-year-old recently released the music video for his new song 'Hold You', a collaboration with Fatboy Leung Yip, member of Hong Kong boy band Error.
The MV, which was created entirely using AI, turns back the clock 40 years, transforming Leon into his 19-year-old self.
Set in 1985, when Leon was studying in the UK, the MV sees him and Fatboy playing schoolmates in a whimsical fantasy adventure, complete with dance sequences and Harry Potter-inspired magical elements.
AI Leon sports youthful, chiselled features, with some netizens even pointing out his resemblance to Hong Kong heartthrob Jeffrey Ngai.
Fatboy also got an AI makeover, with netizens noticing that he appeared significantly taller, almost matching the 180cm-tall Leon.
But while some were impressed by Leon's digitally rejuvenated appearance, others felt that the AI version was no match for the real deal.
Some thought his AI-generated face looked too perfect and lacked the natural charm and charisma that made Leon such a heartthrob back in the day.
Others joked that young Leon never needed AI enhancements in the first place, as he was already better-looking than his digitally recreated self.
Guess some things just can't be recreated, not even with AI.
