Julian Cheung, 53, Has Enough Money To Last 3 Generations, Says Uncle
The HK actor and wife Anita Yuen have reportedly built up quite a fortune, with investments in property, fine art and her beloved Hermès bags.
Most of us work hard hoping to save enough for retirement. Hong Kong actor Julian Cheung, 55, apparently has enough money to last not just his lifetime, but another two generations.
At least, that's according to his uncle, veteran Hong Kong actor Charlie Cho.
Julian, who has been in showbiz for over three decades, has noticeably cut back on acting projects in recent years.
His latest TVB drama, This City Never Sleeps, which is now airing in Hong Kong, marks his return to the broadcaster after 13 years.
His last TVB drama was the 2013 sequel to Triumph In The Skies, in which he played the popular Captain Koo.
So why has Julian been taking on fewer projects?
During an appearance on veteran media personality Wong Man Ling's YouTube show in May, Charlie, once dubbed the 'King of Category III Films', revealed that Julian had confided in him about feeling weary of showbiz.
Charlie advised his nephew: "I told him, if you've earned enough money to last three generations, then you can afford to be selective about the projects you take on. But if you haven't, then you need to keep working hard."
By three generations, Charlie meant enough for Julian, his son and even his future grandson to spend.
When asked if he had that much money, Julian simply replied: "Yes."
Well, that's one nice problem to have.
Charlie then told Julian to only take on projects he enjoys, since he no longer needs to put up with unpleasant situations at work.
Julian agreed.
It's no secret that Julian and his wife, actress Anita Yuen, 55, are one of Hong Kong showbiz's most successful celebrity couples,
Married since 2001, the pair have reportedly amassed a sizeable fortune through their careers and investments.
Besides owning residential and commercial properties, Julian is said to have invested in fine art.
And let's not forget Anita's famous collection of rare Hermès handbags, which is probably worth a pretty penny too.
The couple also haven't spared any expense when it comes to their only son, Morton, 19.
According to Charlie, when Morton moved to the UK for his studies, Anita accompanied him while Julian bought an apartment near his school.
However, after a year, Morton, who is passionate about music, moved to New York to study acoustic guitar under a mentor.
