‘Myanmar’s Hottest Monk’ Paing Takhon Announces Engagement

Burmese actor-model Paing Takhon, 28, who is better known as “Myanmar’s hottest monk”, recently announced his engagement to his girlfriend, Linn Mya Phu, 29.

The couple first went public with their relationship last August.

Though some of Paing Takhon’s fans are left heartbroken now that he's taken, many have also sent their well-wishes, with one writing: “Prince Charming deserves happiness too."

In 2021, Paing Takhon was called “Myanmar’s hottest monk” after photos of him looking impressively muscled and clean-shaven in monk robes went viral.

He had entered a monastery for 10 days, a rite of passage for many men in the country. 

Paing Takhon’s popularity soared, and he was even named TC Candler’s most handsome face of 2021.

That same year, Paing Takhon was arrested for protesting against Myanmar’s ruling military junta. He was sentenced to three years' jail but was released a year later after receiving a state pardon for agreeing to collaborate with the military.

In 2023, he was spotted on vacation in Singapore and he visited Marina Bay Sands and Ion Orchard.
